If you’re thinking about selling your home, buying one, or refinancing your mortgage, you should first speak with professional real estate agents and mortgage bankers. They’re on the ground overseeing home sales every day. So, they have the latest information on prices, sales trends, interest rates, and whether your home style is hot or not.
Still, sometimes, you just want to know how much your home is worth. You may want to be as informed as you can be before you speak with a real estate agent or mortgage lender. Or you may want to know how much your home is worth, just for fun.
You probably know that home sales are on the rebound, after years of slumping. In fact, existing home sales in August were up 6.2% over last year, according to the National Association of Realtors. Prices were up 4.7%, to just under $229,000.
But, what about your home? How much is it worth? The NAR gets you a little closer to knowing that by publishing statistics about houses in regions of the country.
However, that doesn’t do you much good when it comes to finding out how much your house is worth. That’s where sites like Eppraisal come in.
How much is your home worth?
Just type in your address on the Eppraisal homepage. It takes you to a page with Eppraisal’s estimate for how much your home is worth. Right next to it, Eppraisal shows you the estimated price from another real estate site, Zillow.
On that page, you can find information about your home, like its sales history. Have you ever wondered how much your neighbors paid for their house? That’s on the site too, with several recent listings. You can also see how much rent people pay to live in houses like yours. That can be helpful if you’re moving, and want to know if you’d make more money by selling your house, or by renting it out.
There are a ton of statistics about your home and your neighborhood, so you can see what home buyers will find out about your home, if you list it. Along with your home’s estimated price, there’s information about schools in your neighborhood. You can find top-line statistics about the people who live in your ZIP code, like their median age, and their income.
On that page, you can see nearby homes for sale; just click on a photo of a house you like, to see photos of it, its price and other details. You can find out the number of rooms it has, and check to see if it has the amenities you like, such as a swimming pool.
There’s an alternative way to search for homes. From the homepage, click on the link underneath the Homes For Sale icon. It will bring up a brief form to fill out. It will ask the city where you want to find homes for sale, and the number of bedrooms and bathrooms you’d like.
There’s also a Mortgage icon on the Eppraisal homepage. That takes you to contact information for lenders, along with current mortgage rates. Meantime, the Real Estate Pros icon on the homepage will take you to listings for real estate agents in that area, including their contact information.
