Whether it’s summer vacation, the holidays or just a much-needed getaway, it’s never too early to start planning your next trip. That includes finding the best deal possible on airline tickets.
You might not realize it, but Labor Day is just around the corner. If you are planning to travel over Labor Day, time is running out to find the best deals on flights.
When to book your Labor Day airline tickets
A study by Adobe Digital Insights on U.S. travel trends shows that time is running out if you want to get the best deals on Labor Day travel. When it comes to booking air travel, there is a sweet-spot time frame. Experts say you should book domestic flights at least 76 days in advance and international flights at least 125 days out to get the best deals.
That means if you are looking to catch a flight over Labor Day, you need to book it by Saturday, June 17. You have a little extra time for booking a hotel. The best deals on hotels can be found when booked at least 33 days in advance for domestic hotels and 5 to 28 days in advance for international hotels.
Speaking of international travel, according to Adobe, airfare prices from the U.S. to Europe are down by 6.2 percent this year. So you would save around $40 on a flight that would have cost $650 previously. Not too shabby.
Travelers can save even more money when they know which days of the week to fly. Domestic flights are on average 11 percent cheaper when flying on a Saturday. However, you can expect to pay an average of 11 percent more for a domestic flight on a Monday.
