Can you believe 2017 is almost over? Me neither, it went by so fast.

This was a great year for television programming. There are so many good shows nowadays that some people say we’re in another golden era for TV.

Since it’s the end of the year, let’s countdown the top 10 most popular TV shows of 2017.

10. Bull

Coming in as the 10th most popular show of the year is “Bull,” on CBS. It’s about the charming and cocky founder of a successful trial consulting firm, Dr. Jason Bull, where he and his team of experts employ psychology, human intuition, and high-tech data to understand jurors, lawyers, witnesses and defendants, and construct effective narratives to help their clients win.

The show has an average of 14.4 million viewers.

9. America’s Got Talent, (Wednesday broadcast)

Coming in at number 9 is NBC’s Wednesday broadcast of “America’s Got Talent.” It’s basically a talent contest where celebrities judge a wide group of contestants and narrow the field down until a winner is crowned.

The show has an average of 14.6 million viewers.

8. The Walking Dead

The “Walking Dead” on AMC comes in at number 8. This program follows a group of survivors of a zombie apocalypse and their struggle to stay alive. Not only do our favorite characters have to worry about “walkers” but also other groups of people looking to survive.

The show has an average of 14.7 million viewers.

7. America’s Got Talent, (Tuesday broadcast)

Yep, you read it right. Making another appearance in the top 10 TV shows of the year is “America’s Got Talent.” This is NBC’s Tuesday broadcast and comes in at number 7.

The show has an average of 16 million viewers.

6. This is Us

The sixth most popular TV show of 2017 is “This is Us.” It’s an NBC drama that follows the generational story of the Pearson family.

It has an average of 16.5 million viewers.


Crime shows have been super popular for years. Which brings us to this year’s fifth most popular show, “NCIS” on CBS.

It has an average of 17.7 million viewers.

4. Young Sheldon

The fourth most popular show of the year is “Young Sheldon.” It’s a CBS spinoff from its popular series, “The Big Bang Theory.” The program follows the home and school life of 9-year-old Sheldon Cooper.

It has an average of 17.7 million viewers.

3. The Good Doctor

The third most popular television show of 2017 is “The Good Doctor.” The ABC program is about Shaun Murphy, a young surgical resident with autism and savant syndrome.

The show has an average of 17.9 million viewers.

2. The Big Bang Theory

We’re getting close to the most popular show of the year. “The Big Bang Theory” on CBS comes in second place. It’s a program about a group of geeky friends who love science and follows their awkward romantic relationships.

The show has an average of 18.5 million viewers.

1. Sunday Night Football

Are you ready for some football? America certainly is. NBC’s “Sunday Night Football” is the most popular show of 2017.

The weekly NFL broadcast has an average of 18.5 million viewers.
