Kim’s Take: A robot that checks on everyone in the family

I’m not sure we’re ready for the newest puppy-sized robotic dog Aibo from Sony.

This tech dog has cameras on its nose and tail, artificial intelligence and an internet connection so it can walk around and report back what everyone in the house is doing.

Sony is pitching Aibo as a way that you can check on family members by having a small robotic dog walk around the house and report what’s going on whenever or on a schedule.

It knows the faces and names of up to 10 people and sends images to the owner when spotted. Like a real dog, Aibo responds to smiles, petting, and praise.

The price? You can get your own robotic Aibo dog for about $3,000, but hey, that includes cloud storage for your photos and videos.

I’m beginning to think George Orwell was an optimist.
