Welcome to your Thursday, friend. You probably heard that 94-year-old billionaire Warren Buffett retired this past week. I’ve got how much he made off Apple stock in the numbers section. Spoiler: More than you and I both did combined.

šŸ’£ Buffett once likened AI to the development of the atomic bomb. So, is this next sentence true or false? Warren Buffett lives in the same home he bought in 1958. Think you know the answer? You’ll find it at the end!

TODAY’S DEEP DIVE

Throwback tricks that still slap

Image: ChatGPT

Every Thursday, the internet gets doused in nostalgia: cargo pants, weird bangs and MySpace screenshots.

Here’s a vintage revival you didn’t know you needed. Throwback tech hacks that still solve real problems. No hard drive whirring required.

šŸ”„ Alt + Tab = Instant multitaskingĀ

Feeling overwhelmed with too many open windows? Instead of dragging your mouse all over the place like it’s 1998, just press Alt + Tab on Windows (or Command + Tab on a Mac).

You can quickly flip through every open program without lifting your hands off the keyboard.

šŸ–¼ļø Print Screen = Fastest screenshots

Before there were fancy snipping tools, there was the Print Screen (PrtScn) key right on your keyboard. And guess what? It still works.

  • Windows: Tap PrtScn to capture the whole screen, or Windows + Shift + S to grab just a piece.
  • Mac: There’s no PrtScn key on Mac keyboards anymore. Hit Command + Shift + 4 for a precision screenshot.

šŸ‘‰ Pro tip: Windows 11 now also pops open a Snipping Tool menu automatically after hitting PrtScn. Turn it on under Settings > Accessibility > Keyboard.

šŸ”„ Ctrl + Shift + T = The tab resurrector

You know the feeling: You accidentally close a browser tab and immediately panic.

Fret no more. Just press Ctrl + Shift + T (or Command + Shift + T on a Mac), and boom, your last closed tab magically reappears like it never left.

šŸ‘‰ Pro tip: It even works for multiple tabs; keep tapping to bring back your whole lost browsing session. Phew.

āŒØļø F5 = Refresh, fast

Page stuck? Before you sacrifice a goat to the router gods, try the simplest fix: F5 to refresh things and Ctrl + R for web pages (or Command + R for Mac).Ā Ā

Tech has gotten flashier, fancier and sometimes way too complicated. But these throwback tricks? Still smarter, still faster and still cooler than scrolling around like it’s your first day on America Online and ā€œYou’ve got mail!ā€

Sam Altman wants your eyeballs

Forget passwords. The creator of ChatGPT is scanning irises to build a global crypto economy. Also, Noah from Virginia bought an old laptop and found a kid’s ’90s homework saved on it — so he read it on TikTok and made the internet cry. Plus, an Apple AirPlay hack and the chance to buy your own Waymo.

WEB WATERCOOLER

šŸ‘ØšŸ»ā€āš–ļø When dead men speak: In Arizona, a family used AI to recreate a murder victim’s voice and face in a video to deliver his own impact statement in court. The judge gave a harsher sentence after hearing the victim’s synthesized testimony, marking a surreal, and possibly cathartic, first in American legal history. Nothing says ā€œclosureā€ like a ghost dropping the mic in court.

Your brain got doxxed: Warning for you. Neurotech sleep and wellness gadgets are quietly collecting, and selling, your brain waves. These supposed brain-computer interface (BCI) technologies aren’t covered under medical privacy laws. Your mood, thoughts or mental health patterns are on the market to the highest bidder. It never stops.

šŸ¤” Did Siri’s voice change? You’re not imagining it. Something’s off. Folks say it sounds flat and robotic. The reason? Apple tweaked Siri to sound more natural, but it’s the opposite. Good news: You can get the old voice back. Just turn off Apple Intelligence in Settings > Apple Intelligence & Siri. That Apple Intelligence doesn’t work anyway.

Sick of your cloud bill eating your budget alive? I negotiated with Oracle to bring you a limited-time offer to slash your cloud costs. We’re talking 50% off or more.* Why keep overpaying when you can run faster, leaner and smarter? This is your shot to take control and keep more cash in your pocket. Don’t miss it.

šŸ–„ļø Windows is getting AI agents: This is great. Microsoft just announced a new feature that lets you change computer settings just by asking. In Settings, you can type stuff like ā€œmy text is too smallā€ or ā€œcontrol my PC with voice,ā€ and the AI will handle it. No more digging through menus. It’s coming to Copilot+ PCs first, with more devices to follow.

šŸŽ® GTA 6 surprise trailer: It dropped out of nowhere, and yeah, it looks pretty realistic. We’re talking Miami vibes, chaos everywhere and so many butts it might as well be a beach club. ICYMI: The game’s been delayed another six months to May 2026, so this trailer is Rockstar’s way of keeping the hype alive. You have to see it. Watch it here. Btw, you now play as the game’s lead man or woman.

DEVICE ADVICE

āš”ļø 3-second tech genius: Keep a spare charging cable in your carry-on. They’re the #1 most forgotten item. Here’s a three-pack ($12).

šŸ Tunes al dente: Next time you boil pasta, skip the timer and hit play instead. Barilla’s Spotify playlists are perfectly timed for cooking different pasta types. When the music stops, your food’s ready to eat. Choose from Italian pop, indie or hip-hop artists to find your perfect vibe.

šŸ“Ø No contact info? No prob, here’s how to find someone’s email: Search for ā€œJohn Smithā€ + ā€œemail.ā€ The quotes help Google look for that exact phrase. Pro tip: Check their social media profiles. Some folks put their contact details right on their pages.

šŸ–„ļø Cut to the shortcut: Here’s how to screen record in a snap. On a PC, press Windows + G to open the Game Bar. Then, hit Windows + Alt + R to start and stop recording. For a Mac, it’s Shift + Cmd + 5, then click Record Entire Screen or Record Selected Portion at the bottom. Tap the Stop icon in the menu or Cmd + Ctrl + Esc when you’re done.

šŸ”’ Lock your Word doc: Need to keep sensitive info private? Microsoft Word lets you lock it down with a password. Just go to File > Info > Protect Document > Encrypt with Password. Enter your password, confirm it and click OK. FYI: Don’t forget the password! Microsoft can’t recover it for you.

BY THE NUMBERS

Up to $1.4 million

How much MrBeast made from YouTube revenue in the past week, according to Viewstats. He launched the app himself to track creators’ estimated earnings, views and subscribers. And yep, you can look them up, too! It also shows what’s going viral, so if you’ve got a channel, steal some inspo.

$138 billion

How much profit Berkshire Hathaway made on Apple. Berkshire’s $35B Apple buy ballooned to $173B by 2023, then, plot twist, Warren Buffett dumped 67% of it in 2024. Turns out, Tim Cook might be the most profitable ā€œemployeeā€ Buffett ever had. Buffet even called him better for Berkshire than himself.

3 years straight

It’s got a booming tech sector, top-tier math scores and a 6% smoking rate; Utah is basically a straight-A student in a startup hoodie.

LOGGING OUT …

šŸ  The answer: True. Warren Buffett lives in a five-bedroom, 6,750-square-foot house in Omaha, Nebraska, that he bought in 1958 for $31,500.

I sat next to Mr. Buffett at a luncheon when I was voted one of the 100 Most Influential Women in America. He showed me his flip phone. I said, ā€œThey let you in here with that phone?ā€ He smiled and said, ā€œI still use a fax machine, too. And you know why? No one can hack me!ā€ Ah, he got me on that one!
