Create pro quality photos from home with Epson's compact new printer

A printer might seem like the last thing we'd talk about here at Komando.com. After all, the technology hasn't changed too much in the last few years, has it? Other than wireless connectivity and smartphone compatibility, what else can be done with something as commonplace as a printer?

As it turns out, there's a lot of room for improvement, and this one printer has gone the extra mile to ensure it's a worthy addition for your home or office. Right out of the box, this printer produces beautiful, professional-quality photos in wide format that are perfect for mounting on a wall, mantelpiece, or even in a frame. Plus, it's totally wireless and doesn't even need a computer to operate.

If you've ever wanted to print real photos without having to visit the corner store and have them developed, you won't want to miss out on this high-tech printer. With power and flexibility in such a small footprint, it's bringing technological innovation where you least expected it.

Epson's Photo XP-970 Small-in-one saves you a trip to the print shop

Try to imagine a home-sized printer that's capable of producing crisp, laminated photos with ease. You might imagine some large, stacked-up monstrosity that takes up an entire corner of your home office, but the folks at Epson have managed to produce a studio-caliber printer that takes up less space than an Apple iMac.

The Epson Photo XP-970 is capable of rendering wide-format photos and uses 6-color photo HD inks to bring you vibrant, borderless pictures in under 15 seconds. By default, the printer can produce images up to 11" x 17" and can receive print jobs from smartphones and tablets in addition to desktop computers.

It's even compatible with specialty papers, so you can have laminated photos that are perfect for filling up albums and picture frames alike.

How much does this thing cost, anyway?

The Epson Photo XP-970 is highly capable, but quality printers usually aren't the cheapest. Thankfully, Epson finds a nice balance of features and affordability by offering the XP-970 for just $299.

Keep in mind, however, that this printer does require specialty ink from Epson and won't be compatible with any third-party ink cartridges out there. If cartridge flexibility is important to you, this printer might not be the ideal choice.

If you're looking for photo-ready capability in the smallest possible package, however, the Epson XP-970 is a great addition to your home or office. In a time where professional-grade printers still manage to look and sound more like washing machines, it's refreshing to see such a capable model that can sit on a desk without dominating the space.
