If you've been holding on to your current smartphone longer than normal, you're not alone. According to CNN, global smartphone sales fell for the first time ever in 2018.
With the latest and greatest gadgets costing over $1,000 these days, it makes sense to drain every last drop of juice before buying a new one.
Which is why phone makers are coming out with new, innovative gadgets to try and bring us back into the fold. Samsung's new foldable phone might just do the trick.
Witness Samsung's Galaxy Fold in all its glory
Rumors of a foldable phone have been circulating for quite a while. Last week, Samsung made it official when it announced the Galaxy Fold at its Unpacked Event. Now, you can see the Fold in action. Check it out:
What we know about the Galaxy Fold so far
The Galaxy Fold is a groundbreaking device that can unfold into a tablet with a 7.3-inch display and fold back into a smaller flip-phone-like gadget with a 4.6-inch display.
(Note: Samsung calls this foldable screen technology the "Infinite Flex Display.")
To power all that screen real estate, it will sport a whopping 12GB of RAM, a 7-nanometer eight-core processor and two batteries (totaling 4,380 mAh) encased in each side of the fold. For storage, it will get 512GB of the much faster Universal Flash Storage 3.0 standard (no memory card slot, though).
Camera-wise, the Galaxy Fold has six ... yes, that's six cameras. It has three on the backside including a 12-megapixel wide-angle camera, a telephoto camera and a new 16-megapixel ultrawide camera (for incredible panoramic shots).
It also has two inside cameras -- a 10-megapixel selfie and an 8-megapixel depth camera (for bokeh effects). And rounding it off is its 10-megapixel front selfie camera, accessible when it's on "phone" mode.
The Galaxy Fold will launch April 26. But the price might make you flip out. It's going to cost nearly $2,000. Yikes!
