Looking back, 2018 sure was fun! That, of course, depends on your definition of fun. Putting politics aside, Facebook kept reminding us over and over why we shouldn't have Facebook, the Royal Family added another princess to the ranks and who can forget Ariana Grande and Pete Davidson's breakup. Oh, the humanity!
Keep reading, because there might be a test later. There were a lot of trending topics over the past year including some very serious events and the usual cringe-inducing or eye-roll-worthy happenings. Either way, if it was important enough, people searched for it on Google.
So how much of the year do you remember, and what was trending? Whether or not you've chosen to flush 2018 from your psyche, Google wants you to take a quiz.
Let's play a game
If you think you know what everyone was talking about in 2018, check out Google's Game of the Year. It's a quiz based on the most popular searches over the past year. To start, click the green button at the bottom of the game's landing page. You can even customize your the speed and pitch of the game's sarcastic virtual host.
You'll get 20 questions, even a bonus round. Answer a multiple choice question correctly, and keep moving on. Three strikes and your out, and the quiz is harder than I thought. Once the game ends, share the results of your knowledge (or lack thereof) via social media.
The questions are all over the place, covering a wide range of topics. For instance, did more people search for dog backpacks or cat backpacks? I'm not going to spoil it, you'll just have to take the test yourself. I may have gotten it wrong the first time.
