Merry Christmas everybody, and Happy New Year!
With the holidays upon us, you're sure to have some extra time off from work. And you know what that means ... it's time to fire up your favorite streaming service and catch up on all the latest and greatest movies. Maybe even some classics that you've ignored all these years.
But what should you watch first? There are so many options these days that can be a tough question to answer. Good news, there's a website that can help you decide.
Great way to pick new movie favorites
A website called Flickmetrix can help you build a list of things to watch that are customized for you. It combines movie ratings from Rotten Tomatoes, IMDB, Metacritic and Letterboxd to help you search for the best movies to watch on Netflix, Amazon Prime Video, DVD/Blu Ray and in theaters.
It even has a search feature that lets you enter filters to weed out things that you're not interested in watching. Below is an example of the Advanced Options for filters:
As you can see, options include the platform that you want to search for, either On Disc, NetFlix, or Amazon Prime. Then remove any genres that you don't like, for example if you're not interested in Westerns, just add them to the Exclude Genres box.
You can even select a time-frame of when the movies were released. So if you're in the mood for an old time classic, just select a range of years.
The site is very easy to use. Give it a try and play around with it for a while.
Tap or click here to see what you think. Who knows, you might run into an instant classic that becomes your favorite of all-time.
One big secret the streaming companies don't want you to know
So many of us are deciding to cut the cord and ditch cable. It's more convenient, has more options, and is cheap, or so we might have thought. You might think you are saving money by cutting the cord, but with the cost of streaming services and the number there are now, it can become extremely expensive. It's shocking when you do the math.
