Technology these days is outstanding. Smartphones, tablets, smart assistant-enabled speakers, and the list of helpful gadgets goes on and on and on.
There's been so much innovation the last few decades it sometimes feels like we're living in a sci-fi flick. And creative developers have only just begun.
Some new groundbreaking technology was on display last week at a trade show in Japan. You won't believe what these tiny sensors are capable of!
New high-tech sensors are unbelievable
The Combined Exhibition of Advanced Technologies (CEATEC) was recently held in Tokyo. Developers showed off some crazy new items.
Most notably was state-of-the-art sensors that are able to measure a person's stress levels including mood, posture, performance, and get this, smell. That's right, smell. All in the name of improving one's health.
A cosmetics company did a study showing that a person under stress gives off a smell similar to onions. Now, these tiny sensors can detect it.
Panasonic showed off a prototype of an armchair equipped with sensors that measure how much a person's hands sweat, along with their seating position and facial expressions to determine stress levels.
This type of technology would be great to keep an eye on an airline pilot during a long-distance flight. Imagine the added safety that would come with it.
The sensors can also be used to monitor babies while they sleep. If they dangerously roll onto their stomach or have a big temperature spike, the parent would be notified.
They are also good for pets. Simply attach the sensor to a cat's litter box and you can check on its urine volume and frequency. Tech shows have certainly come a long way since the days of big screen TVs.
