This year's major "Windows 10 April 2018 Update" may have introduced a number of new useful features, but for Microsoft, the improvements and system tweaks do not stop.
Since Microsoft's vision for Windows 10 is for it to become a service, new features are being regularly rolled out. Case in point, the company just dropped the new Windows 10 Insider Preview Build 17704 and it has tons of new options that we absolutely love.
This new preview build brings with it tons of great improvements like video autoplay controls for Microsoft Edge, Fluent Design shadows, a major Skype update and much, much more.
Read on and check out the best new Windows preview features so far and how to get them before everyone else.
New Microsoft Edge features
First off, a new Microsoft Edge Beta logo was introduced to differentiate the preview builds from the official release.
New Edge Reading View tools
Edge gets new tools in its Reading View, including new themes, color highlights, and a line focus option.
On the new Edge preview, you can click the three dots in the toolbar to customize which icons appear in the toolbar itself. Common commands like "New Tab" and "New window" also appear more prominently.
Settings are also broken down and organized into subpages by category for easier access.
The preview build of Edge also gets a new setting that allows you to control whether websites can autoplay media like videos and music.
Other Edge improvements
Edge also gets a new consent box for saving Autofill information and new PDF toolbar options.
More Fluent Design improvements
Microsoft's Fluent Design philosophy introduces a new depth aspect that uses shadows to help improve user focus. There's now an option to add shadows on Windows 10's default popup controls.
Video chat app Skype also gets a major update with new features like a more flexible group called Canvas, snapshots within calls, easy screen sharing, custom themes, and a new design layout.
Windows HDR and WCG controls
Windows 10's Display Setting will now have a new Windows HD Color page for equipment that's capable of showing High Dynamic Range (HDR) and Wide Color Gamut (WCG) content.
New Registry Editor drop-down feature
Using the Registry Editor is easier than ever with this new feature that shows a drop-down box as you type to help you auto-complete the next section of your path.
You can also press Ctrl + Backspace to quickly delete the last word and Ctrl + Delete to delete the next word on your entry.
New Diagnostic Data Viewer options
Windows Diagnostic Data Viewer also gets a few upgrades like different categories of data and a new user interface that makes it easier to filter and export information.
