AT&T raising the price of DirecTV Now

AT&T raising the price of DirecTV Now

If you've been paying attention you already know that cutting the cable cord is an extremely popular trend in the U.S. Millions of Americans have already made the transition from cable or satellite to streaming services.

The reason it's so popular is simple. It's a great way to lower your monthly bills. When done right, cord cutting can save you hundreds of dollars over the course of a year.

Unfortunately, some of the more popular streaming services are now raising prices. DirecTV Now is the latest streaming service to announce a price increase.

How much more will DirecTV Now cost?

Cutting the cord is a popular way to cut back on monthly bills. It doesn't make any sense these days to pay up to $200 per month to watch TV when there are so many affordable streaming services to choose from. Here's some bad news.

It seems that streaming services have started a trend of their own. Raising prices. We told you last week that Sling TV is raising its monthly cost for the first time in nearly 4 years.

Currently, AT&T has announced it will raise the price of DirecTV Now by $5 per month. The price increase will go into effect in August.

Previously, its basic package cost $35 per month but will be bumped to $40 next month. The most expensive DirecTV Now package is jumping to $75 per month from $70.

This is not good news for cord cutters. As we said earlier, the main reason to get rid of cable in the first place is to lower monthly bills. If streaming services keep raising prices it could end up making people decide to stay with cable.
