Do you remember why you fell in love with Facebook when you first started using it? For me, it was a great way to re-connect with tons of high school friends that I had lost touch with over the years.
It's also nice to be able to see posts on my News Feed from family members who live thousands of miles away. Such a terrific way to keep up with everyone's life events. However, Facebook's News Feed feature has been problematic lately. It seems to have been taken over by fake news, advertisements and posts by businesses.
That's why Facebook is about to change the make-up of your News Feed.
Facebook to tweak your News Feed for the better
Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg recently announced a major change is being made to your News Feed. The change is supposed to counteract the recent explosion of corporate posts that everyone has been seeing lately.
Zuckerberg said, "Recently we've gotten feedback from our community that public content -- posts from businesses, brands and media -- is crowding out the personal moments that lead us to connect more with each other. It's easy to understand how we got here. Video and other public content have exploded on Facebook in the past couple of years.
"Since there's more public content than posts from your friends and family, the balance of what's in the News Feed has shifted away from the most important thing Facebook can do -- help us connect with each other."
It would be great if this actually happens. Getting back to seeing posts that actually matter to you will be nice.
The social media giant isn't stopping at just tweaking the News Feed either. It's supposedly going to implement changes across other Facebook products in the near future that will make them more personal as well. Let's hope this happens so we can get back to the good ole days of 2008!
