Let’s face it. When it comes to cellphones, we’re all looking for a good deal. With so many carriers and plans, it can be a bit confusing sometimes.
One carrier, though, is trying to simplify the process by introducing a new plan that’s not only cheaper but includes unlimited data, calls and text messages.
T-Mobile is targeting the 55+ crowd with a plan that costs $50 a month for an individual and $60 for a couple. Taxes and fees are included. If you’re in this age group, you’ll be able to sign up for the T-Mobile One Unlimited 55+ plan starting Wednesday.

We should mention that as part of this reduced rate, the carrier wants you to sign up for auto-pay. If you opt out, another $5 will be added to your monthly bill.
Normally, the nation’s third largest carrier charges $70 for a single line and $120 for two lines.
This is quite a switch for T-Mobile since they’ve been positioning themselves as the “un-carrier,” targeting the younger generation and families with their wireless promotions.
Now, T-Mobile said they want to bring the “un-carrier revolution” to a demographic that has been “underserved and overpriced.” A lot of that has to do with T-Mobile’s expansion into areas outside major cities.
The carrier is also quick to point out that this particular age group makes up the fastest-growing group of smartphone users.
Unfortunately, carriers have typically insulted this age group with dumbed down phones and plans, some with zero data plus charges for night and weekend minutes. Seniors also have been forced to pay almost 60 percent more for each line.
More than 93 million Americans in the U.S. are over age 55 and about 74 percent of them have a smartphone. Research shows Baby Boomers spend almost two and a half hours a day on their smartphones, almost as much as millennials who average about three hours a day.
Studies also show that people within this older demographic are more loyal wireless customers so many say it doesn’t make sense that they’ve been treated unfairly when it comes to wireless plans.
To sign up for this plan, all you need to do is stop by a local T-Mobile store anytime on Wednesday or after. Make sure to have an ID with you since it’ll probably be checked.
