Everyone gets upset from time to time. Traffic gridlock, a demanding boss, that jerk at the grocery store who can't figure out how to use a debit card and holds up the line for 10 minutes. Any of these things could set someone off who has a quick temper.
Luckily, most people are able to keep their emotions in check and not act on their frustrations. But there is a new, controversial app seemingly promoting gun violence that you have to know about.
Is this app promoting gun violence?
We're talking about the app dubbed Mobile Gun - First Person Shooter. It lets users virtually "shoot" people with their smartphone.
The app uses your phone's camera to create an augmented reality experience. It captures what's happening in the real world, in real-time and overlays effects onto the smartphone's display.
Users are able to select an assault rifle, sniper rifle, pistol, or rocket launcher to "shoot" anyone they point the camera at. Blood and sound effects can be added to the screen to make it seem more realistic.
There is even a screen recorder that lets you record videos of targets being shot, save them to your gadget and share them on social media. Yikes!
Watch this video to see a brief example of how the app works:
The app is being promoted as a game. Its creator said, "Mobile Gun is the best and the first, First Person shooter game application based on Augmented Reality where users can aim and shoot at real human targets with their mobile camera in real time using face detection. If you are a gun lover and you don't have access to one then this application is for you."
The Mobile Gun app is available in the Google Play Store for Android gadgets. Unbelievably, it has a content rating for everyone. Which means your kids or grand-kids could be using it. If this is something that you don't want them using, you should check their gadgets ASAP to see if they have it.
People have been worrying about the long-term effects that violent video games have on players for years. This app seems to take gaming to the extreme.
