AT&T offers cheapest unlimited data plans - But what's hidden in the fine print?

Have you been following the unlimited data plan war of 2017? It began a few weeks ago when Verizon decided to bring back its unlimited data plan option.

That move led to changes made by the other three top U.S. providers' unlimited plans as well. But it didn't stop there. AT&T has just announced more moves in the battle to attract new customers.

AT&T will be unveiling two new unlimited plans on Thursday, March 2. One plan will be less expensive, to try and reel in customers from its competitors. The second plan is a bit more expensive but offers better features for the serious video streamers out there.

Here is a look at the two new AT&T unlimited plans:

Unlimited Choice - Pricing starts at $60/month for a single line and $115/month for multi-lines.

The single line plan includes:

  • Unlimited Data, Talk and Text
  • 3Mpbs Max Speed - after 22 GB of data usage, speeds may be slower
  • Standard-Definition Video - Video Streamed at max of 1.5Mbs (about 480p)

The multi-line plan includes:

  • Two smartphone lines
  • Add up to eight additional gadgets for $20/month each
  • Unlimited Data, Talk and Text
  • 3Mpbs Max Speed - after 22GB of data usage, speeds may be slower
  • Standard-Definition Video - Video streamed at max of 1.5Mbps (about 480p)

Unlimited Plus - Pricing starts at $90/month for a single line and $145/month for multi-lines.

The single line plan includes:

  • Unlimited Data, Talk and Text
  • High-Definition Video
  • 10GB Mobile Hotspot - After 10GB, hotspot speed limited to max of 128Kbps for the rest of the bill cycle for eligible devices
  • AT&T's Fastest Speed - After 22GB of data usage, speeds may be slower
  • Save $25/month on DirecTV and DirecTV Now

The multi-line plan includes:

  • Two smartphone lines
  • Add up to eight additional gadgets for $20/month each
  • Unlimited Data, Talk and Text
  • High-Definition Video
  • 10GB Mobile Hotspot - After 10GB, hotspot speed limited to max of 128Kbps for the rest of the bill cycle for eligible devices
  • AT&T's Fastest Speed - After 22GB of data usage, speeds may be slower
  • Save $25/month on DirecTV and DirecTV Now
