As we approach the end of February, we will have to say the obligatory hellos and goodbyes to upcoming and outgoing Netflix content.
This month, we welcomed excellent content such as "Santa Clarita Diet," "Ultimate Beastmaster," and "American Crime Story: The People v. O.J. Simpson."
Come March, as usual, a new batch of fresh content is set to hit our favorite video streaming service. What spring treats await us in Netflix next month?
Note: Netflix isn't the only streaming service that's updating its content lineup. Click here to see what's coming to Amazon Prime Video in March.
Disney's "The BFG" (2016)
Last month, it was "Finding Dory." This month, Disney's treat will be the Steven Spielberg live-action movie adaptation of Roald Dahl's novel "The BFG."
This tells the story of the friendship between a girl named Sophia and the titular BFG (Big Friendly Giant). Unlike the other man-eating giants of their magical world, the mysterious BFG turns out to be a benevolent soul.
Disney's "The BFG" will loom large starting on March 15.
"The Life Aquatic With Steve Zissou" (2004)
Wes Anderson's distinctive directorial style will be on full display with the arrival of "The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou" on Netflix next month.
This classic "dramedy" flick is about an eccentric oceanographer who has his eyes set on hunting down the legendary jaguar shark that killed his partner. The movie is said to be a stylized homage to famous French diver Jacques-Yves Cousteau.
The all-star cast includes Bill Murray, Cate Blanche, Willem Dafoe, Michael Gambon, Jeff Goldblum, Angelica Huston, and Owen Wilson.
"The Life Aquatic With Steve Zissou" starts sailing in Netflix on March 26.
Marvel's "Iron Fist"
The success of Marvel shows like "Daredevil," "Jessica Jones" and "Luke Cage" proves that the superhero genre is alive and well on Netflix. To complete "The Defenders" lineup, the much-awaited show about the fourth Defender, Iron Fist, will punch its way through on March 17.
Marvel's "Iron Fist" is about New York billionaire Danny Rand who returns to the city after going AWOL for years to rediscover his past and his family's identity.
Hiding behind this privileged persona is an ability unlike anything else - the ability to summon the incredible power of an ancient mystical force known as the Iron Fist. With this power and his unrivaled Kung-Fu mastery, Rand attempts to fight the creeping corruption that's slowly seizing his beloved city of New York.
"Iron Fist" stars Finn Jones, Jessica Henwick and David Wenham.
Other March highlights
Other highlights in March include Disney's "Pete's Dragon," the return of the mockumentary "This is Spinal Tap," the "Jurassic Park" movie trilogy and the comedy classic "Blazing Saddles." Updated seasons of TV shows "Better Call Saul" (Season 2) and "The Vampire Diaries" (Season 8) are also in the offing.
As always, we'll have to say goodbye to some of our favorites. Departures include the "Jaws" trilogy, "National Lampoon's Animal House," "Bill and Ted's Bogus Journey" and the tremendous "Mega Shark vs. Mecha Shark." Enjoy these in Netflix while you still can!
