It's an exciting time for the world of automobiles. There have been many groundbreaking innovations lately, from electric vehicles to autonomous cars.
We've even told you about a self-driving truck that takes a "beer run" to a whole new level. Now, there is an interesting way of personalizing your vehicle hitting the market.
What we're talking about is a new technique that allows the personalization of certain painted surfaces. Audi created the technique and it will be available first on its R8 supercar.
Audi's personalized paint technique
This new design will let you embed any symbol you desire within a particular painted surface. The only caveat being the symbol cannot infringe on any trademarks.
The symbol you select will have a matte-like appearance that is intended to contrast with its surrounding polished surface. It will also be weather resistant, so you won't need to worry about losing its quality in the rain or snow.
Here is an example of what it would look like:

A special powder is used to affect the paint's protective clear lacquer to create the symbol. Audi applies the powder by spraying it over a template placed on the car's surface, on top of the carbon fiber side blade.
Audi is expected to add this customization feature to other models in the future. This could become the next new trend in the automotive world.
