A slew of updates has been rolled out today to all Apple devices and it includes major security fixes for iOS devices that plug several critical vulnerabilities. Apple recommends that you update as soon as you can.
iOS 10.2.1, available now, contains a variety of patches for over a dozen vulnerabilities including a fix for Vcard/contact card bug that crashes iMessage. Eleven vulnerabilities for WebKit, Safari's browser engine, are also patched. One of the severe WebKit bugs could allow an attacker to execute remote code through a specially crafted website. Memory corruption issues in WebKit are patched as well.
Two kernel patches have also been issued for bugs that could allow applications to execute "arbitrary code with kernel privileges" and take complete control of a device.
Aside from iOS devices, Apple also released macOS 10.12.3 for Macs, watchOS 3.1.3 for the Apple Watch and tvOS 10.1.1 for the Apple TV.
macOS 10.12.3 contains graphical, software compatibility fixes and a number security patches for flaws that can lead to arbitrary code execution.
watchOS 3.1.3 is the first update released after the controversial 3.1.1 update that reportedly "bricked" Apple Watches. Included in this update is a fix for an Auto Unlock bug that may unlock an Apple Watch when it's off a user's wrist.
After the major tvOS 10.1 update that brought the all new TV app to the Apple TV, tvOS 10.1.1 has security and stability fixes including patches that could allow arbitrary code execution.
