Just last week Netflix finally made it possible for viewers to download content and watch it offline. We no longer need to worry about having enough data or a good internet connection in order to watch our favorite movies and TV shows. The app even has a "Download & Go" tutorial.
As if that wasn't enough, they just announced another feature that will make our viewing experience even better. It's designed to help viewers "browse less and watch more."
Netflix will now include preview videos in the browsing section. The company said these previews are not trailers or teasers. They are video synopses that will "highlight the story, characters, and tone of a title." The purpose is to quickly capture your interest while you browse for a new series or movie to watch. Viewers have so many options, maybe this will make the decision process easier.
Netflix's preview videos have launched globally but it will take a few months for them to become available on all platforms and devices. Video previews may show up on the website and phone app first and then expand to gaming consoles and smart TVs.
When the streaming service started, they were only showing movies and TV shows produced by other companies. In the past few years Netflix shows like "House of Cards," "Orange is the New Black," and most recently, "Stranger Things" have really taken off. We can look forward to 1,000 hours of original content from Netflix in 2017.
