Remember those old flip phones that were really popular in the early 2000s? If you still have one, and dozens of other retro-cellphone models, you could make some serious cash by selling them.
Listings for older cellphone models and vintage phones have been popping up all over eBay, and you won't believe some of the prices these phones are going for. Of course, there are several things that factor into how much you can make. The type of phone you own, for example, and the condition it's in play a big role. Accessories are another thing that can lead to a higher sales price.
Some of the phones are also limited editions, which makes them extremely rare. Still, with the holiday shopping season in full swing, it may be time to pull those old phones out of storage and see what price they'll fetch.
Here are some of the top sellers we found when we searched through eBay.
1. Dulce & Gabbana limited edition Razr, $470
Even though this limited edition phone is used, the current bid is $470. The kit includes the phone, charger, a leather cover, headset and keychain.
2. Vintage Nokia Mobira
This phone dates back to the 1980s, and you won't believe how much it's selling for. If you happen to have one of these lying around, it's time to sell. The current eBay price for this item is at $599.
3. Motorola DynaTAC 8000x
The sales price of this particular model ranges from under $10 to almost $5,000, depending on the condition of the device and the accessories that are included.
If you'd like to buy the phone in the photo above, you'll need to fork over $4,999. That's because it comes with the antenna, stand, charger and carrying bag, has never been used, and is museum quality.
4. Sony Ericsson W800i
This pristine retro cellphone is used, but it comes in the original box and with the original accessories. Currently, it's listed at $299.
5. Sell a bundle
So, maybe you don't have the limited edition Dolce & Gabbana Razr, or other one-of-a-kind items. But, chances are, you have a handful of old cellphones lying around the house. You can make more money on these items by selling them as a bundle than by selling them individually.
Gather them all up, as well as the accessories they came with, confirm that they still work and clean them up a bit. That's all it takes!
Other models that can bring in some serious cash are below:
- Motorola StarTAC ($12-$200)
- Nokia 9000 Communicator ($50-$500)
- HTC One ($70 - $300)
- Nokia N95 ($50 - $150)
