Buying new devices isn't always about keeping up with the Joneses. Sometimes it's necessary if you still want certain applications to run. Developers create apps specifically for the latest operating systems. And the latest operating systems normally work better on newer devices.
WhatsApp, a messaging app that over 1 billion people use, will stop working on several older devices with older operating systems. If you have one of the phones on this list, it may be time to upgrade.
By the end of this year, WhatsApp will no longer work with the iPhone 3GS nor on any iPhone still running iOS 6 or older. It will also cease working on iPad models 1, 2, 3 and 4 that haven't been updated.
WhatsApp will stop working on Android gadgets still running Android 2.2 Froyo or earlier.
WhatsApp will no longer be supported on any Windows 7 phone.
Bad news for people with the Blackberry OS, Blackberry 10, Nokia S40 and Nokia Symbian S60. WhatsApp will end support for these systems in June 2017.
