When it comes to price matching, Walmart has been leading the way for years. But did you know other retailers offer price matching too? Toys R Us, Best Buy, Bed Bath & Beyond, Home Depot and others all have price matching programs.
Don't forget about Amazon, too. Although Amazon's price matching program doesn't cover all of its products, it is a great way to save money on certain TVs.
Any TV sold by Amazon (not a third-party seller), is eligible for Amazon's TV Low Price Guarantee.
Here's how it works. When you purchase your new TV, you have up to 30 days to contact Amazon and request a refund for the difference if you find that same TV being sold for less by a "qualifying competitor" or even if the price has since dropped on Amazon.com.
Note: You can find Amazon's full list of qualifying competitors by clicking here.
Amazon's TV Low Price Guarantee only applies to eligible TVs and does not include any accessories that were purchased. The price difference also excludes things such as special financing, installation costs and any warranties that were purchased for your item.
To get the price match, you'll need to be sure that the offer you've located is comparable. This means that it must be for the same make and model as the TV you purchased. Even the color must be the same!
Another thing that's important is that the comparable deal must be for a product that is currently in stock at the other retailer (i.e. no rain checks!), and the comparable deal must not be for an item that has been refurbished or used in any way.
The guarantee also doesn't apply to any clearance items, or products that are offered as one-time sales, as part of a liquidation sale, "early bird" and "doorbuster" sales, etc.
Here are some additional rules you should know about:
- The guarantee only applies to TVs that are for personal use
- You can only apply for the price match once per item
- Lower prices obtained through a gift card do not qualify
- TV bundle packages may qualify as long as the same bundle is being offered at a lower price
If everything checks out and your purchase qualifies, you'll receive your refund in the form of an Amazon gift card that can be used on anything Amazon sells, or you can request that the refund is credited back to the card that the original purchase was made with.
To contact Amazon for your refund, you'll need to log into your account. Once you're logged in, go to www.amazon.com/gp/help/customer/contact-us.
As long as you're logged in, the link should take you to a page that is specific to the orders you've placed through your account. Find the record of your TV purchase and contact the company about that particular order. You can also call Amazon directly at 1-888-280-4331.
