We recently told you about GoPro's recall involving its new Karma drone. There have been reports that the $800 drone loses power and suddenly drops from the sky after it has been launched.
Early Karma adopters are asked to return their drones to GoPro for a full refund and the product will be under recall until the company fully resolves the issue.
To compensate disappointed Karma drone owners for the hassle, GoPro is offering American customers a free Hero5 Black camera once the drone and the purchased accessories are returned. So, aside from the full refund, owners will get a shiny new $400 camera to play with.
According to GoPro:
"All components included with the Karma drone bundle, including HERO5 Black and Karma Grip, must be returned for a full refund. Once your complete return has been processed and refund issued we will send you a HERO5 Black as a thank you. For Best Buy customers to receive their HERO5 Black, please contact GoPro Customer Support directly and have your original transaction number available to confirm your product has been returned and processed at Best Buy."
The Hero5 Black is the latest version of the popular GoPro action cameras. It features a 12-megapixel sensor, a two-inch rear touchscreen, and like previous GoPro models, it can shoot 4K videos at 30 fps. It will also come with built-in GPS for instant location tagging, image stabilization for steadier footage, waterproofing and voice controls.
Not a bad "thank you" gift for the GoPro faithful, if you ask me.
Are you one of the early GoPro Karma buyers? What do you think about the Hero5 compensation?
