Are you one of the millions of people who purchased a new iPhone 7 or 7 Plus? They were released in September and as usual, crowds were lined up for hours waiting to get their hands on one. You can't really blame people for being excited over some of the iPhone's newest innovations.
However, since 2017 is the 10-year anniversary of the iPhone, we're expecting big things out of next year's models. That's why you might want to wait for the iPhone 10 before buying a brand new one. If you can't wait another year for a new phone, you're in luck. For the first time ever, Apple is selling refurbished iPhones.
You have been able to purchase a refurbished iPad, iPod or Mac from Apple online for a while now. The tech giant just recently made refurbished iPhones available online for the first time.
Refurbished options currently are the iPhone 6S and 6S Plus ranging from $449 to $589, depending on the model and storage size. Those prices are 15 percent cheaper than new models.
On its site, Apple says that all of its refurbished products are tested and certified and include a one-year warranty. All refurbished iPhone models are unlocked, SIM-Free and include a brand new battery and outer shell. You will also receive free shipping and free returns on all of Apple's refurbished products.
These refurbished phones are most likely coming from Apple's iPhone Upgrade Program. A large number of iPhone 6S models were traded in when iPhone 7 models were released.
A refurbished 6S Plus with 64GB of memory is selling for $589. Even though that's less than the cost of a new model, it might seem a little steep. With that in mind, if you can hold off on buying a new phone, you might want to wait for next year's model.
