Amazon’s Black Friday sale starts early

Amazon’s Black Friday sale starts early

Black Friday used to mean shopping at stores on the day after Thanksgiving. Then it meant eating Thanksgiving dinner earlier so that you could shop that evening. Then Small Business Saturday encouraged patronage of local shops and online stores offered deals for Cyber Monday. The window of savings opportunities is getting bigger and bigger.

One online retailer is changing the game completely. They are offering nearly an entire month of deals and discounts.

Amazon began their Black Friday sale yesterday! There's a section of the site called the  "Black Friday Deals Store" that has a countdown event where they will be posting new deals every day leading up to Black Friday. And the discounts don't end there, they will be offering deals until December 22.

Of course, there are some special extras for Amazon Prime members. They will get a 20 percent discount on preordered items and two-day shipping for over 30 million products. And if Prime members own an Echo Dot device then they can use Alexa as a shopping assistant.

Amazon even created a way to give their customers X-ray vision. If you scan a delivery's barcode with the Amazon mobile app then it will tell you what's inside without you having to open it. It's great for saving time but it could ruin Christmas if the person the gift is for uses the app. This feature will be available November 15.

If you're not sure what to get for someone who is really difficult to shop for, Amazon has a solution for that too. They have holiday gift guides that provide tons of suggestions. For example, the Amazon Electronics Gift Finder page separates suggestions into categories such as "Under $100," "Wearables," and "Home Entertainment."

Did you hit the jackpot last Black Friday or did you hold out for Cyber Monday? We gave you a whole list of deals last year in our daily newsletters. Hopefully, you were able to get a lot of great gifts at a good price for your family and friends. Make sure you check back in our Happening Now section for this year's deals.
