I love using Facebook Live before I start filming my show to give viewers a behind the scenes look. I enjoy chatting with all of you in real time and it's so cool when you all post what part of the country you're watching from. I plan to use it during my live event, the Komando Shopping Network (KSN) so make sure you tune in!
Normally when I go live, it shows up spontaneously in your notifications. But now with Facebook's improvements to their live streaming system, you'll know exactly when to watch.
Facebook is now enabling verified pages to schedule live broadcasts up to one week in advance. If a page you follow schedules a live stream, you will see the announcement in your news feed. From there, you can select if you'd like to receive a reminder about the live event. If you choose yes, then you will get a notification a few minutes before the streaming starts.
In order to schedule a broadcast, verified pages can select the "Publishing Tools" section from the menu underneath the search bar. From there, they would select "Video Library" and then "Live." Then, copy the streaming credentials provided and paste the link into your video streaming software.
Next, add details, such as the name of the video and description, and then select "Schedule Live" from the "Go Live" drop down menu to select a date and time. You can add an image too; it will be shared with your custom announcement and custom link. The link is designed for promoting your event on other social media sites.
There's even a virtual waiting room. The audience can join the "live lobby" up to three minutes prior to the stream and chat with other viewers before it begins.
In the coming weeks, Facebook will be making this feature available to everyone. While you wait, you can perfect your broadcast skills. Check out this video and article for some tips that will help you live stream like a pro.
So when you see the KSN Live announcement in your news feed, make sure you set the reminder. I've hand-picked five gadgets from my shop that I know you'll love. The event premieres on October 26 from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m. M.S.T.
