In 1919, Walt Disney was fired from a newspaper job because his editor said he "lacked imagination and had no good ideas." Imagine how much less magical the world would be if he had believed his editor.
But now, it looks like the magic of Disney has been using the magic of Photoshop to cover up one of Walt's less desirable habits. Can you guess what it is?
Give up? The photo, which was posted to Reddit, shows Walt without one of his favorite things: a cigarette. It turns out that Walt was a heavy smoker, about three packs-a-day-heavy. In fact, lung cancer is what took his life in 1966 at the age of 65.
With that in mind, Disney the corporation has, for years now, had a no smoking policy - in both its films and at its parks, hotels and resorts, except for in designated smoking areas. You might have noticed that in the movie "Saving Mr. Banks," Tom Hanks, who starred as Walt Disney, didn't have one cigarette. That's because of the no-smoking policy.
Putting all these pieces together, Reddit user Canaris1 posted different versions of the photo to the social forum. Here's the best quality version he could find of the original. Notice the display in the background and the cigarette in hand?
And here's another version of the photo, with no cigarette.
