Who do you think won the last night's presidential debate?

Donald Trump? No. Was it Hillary Clinton? Try again.

The real winner of last night's debate was Twitter. In fact, there were more than 17 million tweets sent out during the debate, making it the most tweeted-about event ever - even more than the famous Ellen selfie.

To break everything down, Twitter's official Government page released the numbers and put everything in perspective. Here are a few stats and fun facts about the debate and Twitter:

  2. Foreign affairs
  3. Economy
  4. Health care
  5. Guns

The Top 3 Tweeted Moments

  1. Trump says he disagrees with his running mate, Mike Pence, on policy in Syria.
  2. Trump says he's a gentleman.
  3. Trump says Hillary would be in jail in his administration.

Other stats

  • Each candidate gained thousands of followers. Clinton gained 25,000 while Trump gained 16,000.
  • Who dominated the Twitter conversation? Trump took 64 percent and Clinton took 36 percent.
  • However, Twitter also noted that more people were discussing Trump's treatment of women than the actual debate itself.
