If you've accumulated a lot of files of the course of several years, it's hard to find a place to store everything. Whether it's important paperwork from your thriving small business or photographs of all your children's milestones, wouldn't it be great to be able to store it all in one place?
Two years ago a major manufacturer of memory storage devices released a 512GB SD card. If that wasn't big enough, they've just announced plans to release the biggest SD card in the world!
SanDisk has a prototype for a 1TB SD Card, which is twice as big as the 512GB card. There's no word yet on how much it will cost or when it will be available in stores, but just the possibility of all that memory inside a disk less than a square inch in size is amazing!
So what can you do with all that memory? One terabyte can store about:
- 85,899,345 pages of Word documents
- 200,000 songs or 17,000 hours of music
- 500 hours worth of movies
- 310,000 photos
A popular saying in regards to storing data is: "If it doesn't exist in at least three places, it doesn't exist." After saving so many family photos, tax documents, favorite songs, other types of important information in one place, it'd be a shame to lose it all. But life happens, and that's why it's so important to backup all of your files.
Another storage location could be a DVD from a media transfer service. Costo, Walgreens and Walmart each have photo services that allow you to transfer photos on an SD card to a DVD, along with several other types of media, such as slides and VHS tapes.
