The wait is finally over. Apple has started sending out media invitations for its next product launch where the new iPhone 7 models are expected to be unveiled.

These Apple media invites are usually sneak peeks of what the event themes are. This year, it appears to be a bokeh shot of multi-colored lights. This means that the event will be focusing on new camera features, perhaps?

The recent invite also features the words "See you on the 7th," which all but confirms the September 7 date of the next event. "7th" could also be a reference to the iPhone 7, the expected moniker of the next version of the iPhone.

See you on the 7th

According to early leaks and speculation, the new iPhone 7 is expected to have minor aesthetic changes from its predecessor, the iPhone 6s, such as fewer antenna lines. The major changes are with the hardware - the removal of the 3.5 mm headphone jack and the addition of dual rear cameras.

There are also reports saying that the iPhone 7 will be more water-resistant plus optical image stabilization will be introduced to the non-Plus models. There are rumors predicting that the 256GB iPhone 7 will finally be introduced.

Other product reveals that may happen are those of the new Apple Watch and a refresh of the MacBook Pro. Software update release dates for iOS 10, watchOS 3, and macOS Sierra may be announced but these other product reveals are still pure speculation at this point.

What we don't know yet is the iPhone 7's release date. Will Apple start the pre-orders on the Friday after the event with the actual release a week after that? If that's the case, then the iPhone 7 and 7 Plus will be released on September 16. (This date makes this prediction spot-on accurate.)

So now that we know the launch event and the probable release date of the iPhone 7, where will the event be?

According to the invites, the Apple event will be held at the Bill Graham Civic Auditorium in San Francisco at 10 a.m. on said day.

As is the case with past Apple events, a live stream of the keynote will be viewable on that day. Check Apple's event page on September 7 to catch the product reveals as they unfold.
