Choosing a cellphone provider plan can be tricky and time-consuming. That is why last week we compared mobile data plans of the top four carriers to help you out. But there are many other pros and cons to each company. Maybe one company has the best prices for what you need but their cell service isn't as strong in your area.
RootMetrics, a company that collects and publishes information about cellphone services from different carriers, recently declared one carrier to be superior to its competitors. Can you guess which carrier consistently beats the others in almost every category of performance?
If you said the company that has a red check mark as their logo, then you are correct. Verizon scored a 93.9 on the overall performance test, beating out AT&T (89.9), Sprint (85.5) and T-Mobile (82.5). The test included categories such as reliability, network speed, and data.
It seems that RootMetrics performed a very thorough investigation over the first half of 2016. They compared service in all 50 states by driving over 260,000 miles around the country to carry out over 3 million tests in several different locations. They collected research from rural areas, cities, highways, indoors, and various other locations.
Although Verizon came out ahead in nearly every category, RootMetrics noted improvements from other carriers. Sprint's reliability improved, T-Mobile's speed improved, and AT&T is a close second to Verizon that's making steps to close that gap even more.
