What will you be watching on Netflix this weekend? This week, my picks include "The Get Down," "St. Vincent" and "The Big Short." But maybe, you want to watch something that is tailor-made to your interests.
Luckily, Netflix makes personalized recommendations too, but it needs your help to make them better.
With Netflix, you can rate everything you watch on a one to five scale. Netflix then uses an algorithm based on the genres you watch, your streaming history and other factors to recommend TV shows and movies you might like.
If you've already watched a lot of content but haven't rated anything, don't worry. You can add in star ratings for things you've already watched.
Here's how: Login to Netflix on a desktop or laptop computer >> from your icon in the upper right-hand corner, click on the down arrow then Your Account >> under My Profile, click on Viewing Activity >> select a title, give it a star rating on the left-hand side of your screen once you go to that title's page.
If you have a selection that you absolutely hated, simply click on the X to remove it from your viewing history.
From here, Netflix will be able to take better-educated guesses at what you'll enjoy watching.
Bonus: If you have several people in the house using one Netflix account, be sure to set each person up with their own Netflix profile to avoid muddying Netflix's suggestions. On the Netflix website, click Manage Profiles in the top-right corner to get started.
