For decades now, millions of Americans have sat down to the dinner table, only to be rudely interrupted by an unwanted phone call from a telemarketer.
It's infuriated so many people over so many years the Do Not Call registry came into existence in 2004. However, telemarketers have worked around Caller ID by adding a 1 or 0 to the beginning of a phone number with your area code (instead of a 1-800 number), making the number look legitimate and fooling you into answering.
When those calls get through, simply ignoring or hanging up are the easiest ways to deal with them. Easy enough, but where's the fun in that?
