The countdown clock is nearing zero! If you have been thinking about upgrading to Windows 10 you need to do so quickly. You have until Friday July 29 to get the upgrade for free. After that, the upgrade will cost $119. Click here to see why Microsoft is adding this charge.

Windows 10 is fast, safe and it'll soon have browser extensions that die-hard Windows users have been asking for for years. The new version of the operating system has already been downloaded over 300 million times since last summer. If you are on the fence on whether or not to upgrade, here are some of the features that might help you decide.

Improved Start Menu: Windows 10 brought back the Start menu. To almost everyone's disapproval, the Start menu had disappeared in recent versions of Windows. You will be happy to see it's back where it belongs, like the return of an old friend.

Windows Hello: One interesting type of technology being introduced is biometric user authentication. Dubbed Windows Hello, this new layer of security employs facial recognition, iris scanning or fingerprint authentication for user sign-ins. Newer machines with the infrared and fingerprint scanning hardware should all be compatible with Windows Hello since Microsoft built it directly into Windows 10 with a wide support for biometric devices.

Microsoft Passport: This feature uses two-factor authentication to verify users. With this technology, users can register another supported device, such as another laptop or a Windows phone, then use it to unlock a Windows 10 machine via a PIN or gesture.

Microsoft Passport, combined with Windows Hello's biometric user authentication, could make the archaic character password system a thing of the past.

Better Browsing: Microsoft Edge will now offer browser extensions. If you use add-ons or extensions for competing browsers, like Google Chrome or Mozilla Firefox, you know that there are several extensions available. The great thing about extensions is that you can customize your browsing experience.

Users that upgrade to Windows 10 can also look forward to the anniversary update that will start rolling out on August 2. Click here to see what's included in this Windows 10 overhaul.

On the other side of things, there are some Windows 10 features that we don't really care for. Before you upgrade, take a look at these 10 reasons you may not want to switch. If you do upgrade to Windows 10 then decide you don't like it, don't worry - there is a way to roll back to an older version. Click here to see how it's done, and get step-by-step instructions.
