It is amazing what we are able to do with ever-improving technology these days. Photographers have seen some of the greatest benefits with cameras becoming more powerful and shrinking in size, making them much more mobile.  We've already told you about some innovative ways to use your smartphone's camera, but click here if you missed that article.

Even with cutting edge technology some of the best pictures are the result of being in the right place at the right time. That's why we wanted to share this breathtaking photo taken by an Ecuador Airlines pilot from 37,000 feet above the Pacific Ocean.

Santiago Borja snapped this stunning picture of a flash of lightning during a powerful tropical storm. He took the magnificent shot from the cockpit while he was flying just south of Panama on the way to South America. He was using a Nikon D750.

CB anyone?

According to Borja, it was a tough shot to get because it was such a bumpy flight. He said he loves this photo because it gives you a feel for the storm's enormous size and power.

Borja says flying and photography are his two greatest passions. He takes his camera everywhere and always tries to take amazing pictures while he's in the air. He has shared some of his favorite pictures on his Instagram page, and we've rounded up some of our favorites. Keep reading to see more of his amazing photography.
