As most of us already know, legendary and iconic boxer Muhammad Ali died last week after a long battle with Parkinson's disease. His funeral, or "public sendoff service" is set for tomorrow, Friday, June 10 in his hometown of Louisville, Kentucky at the KFC Yum! Center.
Around 15,000 FREE public sendoff tickets were gone in a matter of minutes when made available to the public and that's where these despicable scalpers come into the fold.
Scalpers began to post tickets for the event for sale. Likewise, others are posting on the site looking for tickets too.
This isn't necessarily a scam, per say, but it's troubling because Ali planned his own funeral in such a way that the goal was to give "one last gift to his adoring fans, rich or poor." People profiting off of these tickets goes against those last wishes.
One family spokesman told the New York Daily News:
“The family of Muhammad Ali would rather see those seats sit empty rather than know some black-hearted whore profited from his death and disrespected his final wishes."
