It was the last week of classes at the Holly Springs School of Dance just outside Raleigh, North Carolina. Teachers encouraged the kindergarten-aged girls to come to class dressed as their favorite princess.
There were plenty of Cinderellas, Rapunzels and Elsas to go around. But even though 6-year-old Ainsley Turner had plenty of princess costumes to choose from at home, she decided instead to express her own individuality with a different look.
And that's how she became the viral social media sensation: #HotDogPrincess. That's right, young Ainsley showed up to princess day dressed as a hot dog! Her father, Brad says "the hot dog is her favorite costume. She doesn't care what other people think."
Not only was the school supportive, a picture tweeted by one of the teachers went viral in a hurry with a lot of love for the young rebel.
