Mirror, mirror, on the wall? What's the coolest little computer of all? Thanks to a $35 Raspberry Pi computer and a little know-how, one man in Philadelphia was able to make a magic mirror that displays weather forecasts, the time and date and a random greeting like "you look especially amazing today."
Now, Microsoft has created a very similar mirror, also called the Magic Mirror, also using a Raspberry Pi 3 computer. The Microsoft version has just a little bit more functionality, however, because it also features Windows Hello Technology. The mirror has a 23.6-inch LCD screen inside and displays information on a black background.
On top of showing you the date and the weather, this mirror can also give you traffic reports and the best route to take to work in the morning.
But what is really amazing is that, thanks to the Windows Hello tech, it can recognize up to eight human emotions from happiness and surprise to anger and sadness. When the tech recognizes one of these emotions, it will display relevant information based on mood.
There's no release date set for a commercial Magic Mirror, but you can make your own in the meantime. Here are the instructions from Microsoft itself.
