Facebook's new scam: woman tries to sell her baby

Just when you've thought you've seen it all on social media, something disturbing popped up on many people's Facebook news feeds recently that made many people want to take action.

This story is hard to comprehend, especially if you're a parent or looking to adopt a child. It tugged at many heartstrings, but also garnered a lot of anger at the sheer audacity and desperation of one mother's tactics regarding her son.

A Florida woman named Kerry posted a heartbreaking message on her Facebook page. She claimed she couldn't afford to keep her adorable 6-month old, blue eyed, baby boy named Mark. So she was offering him, for free, to anyone that would provide a good, safe home.

According to her post, Kerry desperately wanted a serious, God fearing family that needed a child of its own to love and support. In reality, Kerry was looking for a whole lot more than that.

A woman in Texas named Robyn replied to Kerry's post saying she would adopt baby Mark. A quick reply came from the desperate mom asking for all of Robyn's personal information. Soon, a message from someone calling himself "Lawyer Frank" offered to bring the baby and his birth certificate to Robyn, if she first paid a $1000-"handling fee." A rather shady tactic, Robyn thought, but she continued anyway, even negotiating the fee for the "free" baby down to $450.
