Modern navigation systems are an awesome convenience but they still make you gaze at your phone or a screen on your dashboard. What if you could get hands-free directions while keeping your eyes safely on the path ahead?
A new product from the U.K. will soon help you find your way, using your feet. Sneakairs are a new kind of smart tennis shoe that give you “turn by turn” navigational guidance. The stylish suede lace-ups track where you are, where you're headed and send vibrating pulses to your feet when it's time to turn right or left.
The sole of each shoe contains a vibration module, a battery and a miniature Bluetooth unit. You simply pair your pair of shoes to your smartphone. Open the Sneakair app and enter a destination and hit "go."
The shoes are the creation of British budget airline, EasyJet who are still working out a few bugs with the battery life before their wide release. They designed the shoes for tourists who want to explore attractions on foot without having to ask for directions.
So next time you need directions, slip on your Sneakairs and follow your feet.
