Where tech workers earn the most money

The tech industry is booming with career opportunities for just about everyone. In fact, investors spent $58.8 billion in new companies last year, most of them in tech.

So, if you're a tech worker where is the best place for you to live? Silicon Valley in California is the hub of the tech world.

But you don't have to move to land a high-paying job in technology. In fact, when you factor in the salary you or your family will make with the price of living, you'll be surprised to find out you may already live in a hot tech metro.

That's according to the Homes.com New Tech City Index. It ranks metro areas based on industry wages, employment levels, average house price and other metrics.

5. Boston

With high educational standards and strong relationships with East Coast powerhouses, Boston has a great tech industry. Tech giants like HubSpot, a company that develops and markets inbound marketing software, are headquartered here.

4. Atlanta

The recent development of Atlanta's Technology Square, which includes the Georgia Institute of Technology, the Advanced Technology Development Center, and soon the headquarters of NCR, has turned the city into a tech hotspot. Tech companies in the city include Cox Enterprise, NCR and NASCO.
