It's a bird... it's a plane ... it's a bum?
People have been trying to figure out what this bum-shaped balloon is for weeks. The aircraft, which was just christened Martha Gwyn, has been nicknamed "the flying bum," due to its resemblance to a person's hind quarters.
Humorously, there is speculation that the balloon is named after the wife of Philip Gwyn, the company chairman. We're curious as to whether she takes this as an insult or a compliment.
But, despite its funny looks, this balloon-plane hybrid can fly. This mega sized 302-foot-long balloon is the world's largest aircraft.
The U.S. Army had developed it for a project, but ended up scraping it. Now, it is being converted into a civilian aircraft. Air regulators have even issued permits to conduct test flights this year.
Some people are hailing this craft as the future of air travel because it emits very little pollution and it's less noisy than traditional passenger airplanes. Only time will tell as to whether this new form of air travel takes off. If it does, we hope you like big butts because you might just see them flying through the sky.
