Pope Francis might be the coolest pope ever. Not only is he most likely the most popular pope ever, he takes selfies and tweets and under the handle @Pontifex too. Better yet, it's confirmed by the Vatican that Pope Francis will join Instagram over the weekend, sharing pictures under the name @Franciscus.
Rolling off the success and scope of his Twitter account that has more than 8 million English-speaking followers, and following a visit from Instagram's CEO Kevin Systrom, his Holiness will join other religious leaders and spiritual figures such as the Dalai Lama on the photo-sharing site. The account will also be alongside the official account of the Vatican.
Nobody yet knows what type on content will be posted, but if it's anything like his Twitter account, it will be aimed at believers and non-believers alike, and will serve as a platform to react to global events and share his views on certain situations.
