If you have ever charged your wireless devices with a wireless charger, you know there are wires involved. You can place your smartphone on top of a plugged-in wireless charger.
But, wouldn't it be nice to charge your wireless devices from anywhere in your house? For example, you can charge your smartphone even if it's in your pocket while your downstairs in the laundry room and your wireless charger is upstairs in your bedroom.
That is a lot closer to reality that you may think. At the ongoing International Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas, the company Ossia is debuting a wireless charging station that can charge your devices within about a 10-30-foot range. In other words, if you're using your smartphone while sitting on the couch, you can charge your digital device if Ossia's Cota wireless charger is in the same room, or a room over.
Cota uses radio frequencies that are housed in the Cota base station to wirelessly charge your digital device. Every second, Cota's embedded chip in your device sends 100 RF signals to your Cota base station, which has thousands of antennas inside.
