Everyone is familiar with routers. They're those bulky devices that connect all of our devices to the Internet. But, what you might not know is that now there's a router designed specifically for your Bluetooth devices.
Nearly everything is a smart gadget these days. We have smart scales, smart lightbulbs and even smart basketballs. What we don't have, however, is a way to easily connect them all. Until now. If you're tired of using numerous apps to control your numerous items, then you need to check out the Cassia Hub - a router for Bluetooth devices.
The Cassia Hub was designed to eliminate the biggest problems of Bluetooth devices. First, the short range limitations that most of them have. And second, the fact that they can only be paired with one other device at a time. Manufacturers of the Cassia Hub claim the device extends your Bluetooth range from an average of 30 feet, to an average of around 1,000 feet. You can also pair up to 22 devices to the hub, and manage each of them through a single interface.
It works by essentially acting as the "middle man" between you and your devices. Rather than sending signals directly to your smartphone or tablet through a Bluetooth connection, each device is paired with the Cassia Hub and sends signals to it directly. From there, the hub works directly with each device's control apps, but organizes them for you all in one place.
There is one major downside to the Cassia Hub, and that is how it works for music streaming. Since you'll need to pair your Bluetooth speaker to the hub, you're limited to using the hub to manage your music content. Currently, the hub only supports SoundCloud, but the developers are working on making the device compatible with other streaming providers, like Spotify and Pandora.
Although the Cassia Hub is still in its early phases of development, it is one of the first products out there to truly serve as a router for Bluetooth devices. The hub itself is not available yet, but can be preordered and will be released sometime in the first quarter of this year. The product was created by Cassia Networks, and has a price of $100.
