Are you ready for the Internet of Things? You're going to be hearing a lot about that odd-sounding term in 2016, and it's a good thing.
The Internet of Things, or IoT, is simply your home devices getting a lot smarter, thanks to Wi-Fi connectivity. One of those IoT devices will be smart vacuums that roll around your house, cleaning it for you, just like in the "The Jetsons."
We've told you, for instance, that the new-generation Roomba vacuums, can clean up your home even when you're not there. Now, LG is getting into smart vacuuming with its upcoming HomBot Turbo+.
Note: You can find current versions of LG HomBot vacuums right now on Amazon.
LG's HomBot Turbo+ will be unveiled at next month's International Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas. But LG is already getting the word out on this smart device. Suffice to say, it'll keep your house clean, and your home safe when you're not there.
The HomBot Turbo+ will have three camera sensors, to map out your home. It has a new feature called Home Joy that works with the HomBot app, so you can control it from your smartphone.
With Turbo+, you can take a picture of the room, or area of a room that you want it to vacuum. Then, tap the HomBot app to tell it to do just that.
Turbo+ will vacuum the area, then head back to its port. The HomBot Turbo+ also has a bonus feature that'll help protect your home.
Its camera sensors can be set up to alert you if intruders break into your home. If so, Turbo+ will send you photos to your smartphone, no matter where you are.
No word yet on how much LG's HomBot Turbo+ will cost. Keep reading Happening Now for updates on this very cool Internet of Things device.
