In case you haven't heard, 2015 is the year of the emoji. How do we know?
For starters, it seems everyone is saying it's the year of the emoji. Plus, the esteemed Oxford Dictionary last month chose the tears-of-joy emoji, not an actual word, as its word of the year.
To backtrack a bit. If you're not familiar with the term "emojis," you've seen them. They're those little cartoon expressions that people use as shortcuts on Facebook, texts and elsewhere. For instance, instead of typing, "I'm laughing so hard I'm crying," you just stick in the tears-of-joy emoji.
Confused? If so, now there's an English-to-emoji translation website and apps to help you out. Just speak into the microphone (see photo above) and SpeakEmoji translates your words into emojis.
It's just for fun; and it is fun. In case you're not convinced about its silly intent, check out this SpeakEmoji video.
