If you're a fan of Apple gadgets like its iPhone or iPad, or even if you're not a fan but like keeping up with tech news, you know Apple has been branching out beyond its touch-screen devices. For instance, Apple recently bought the sound system company Beats By Dre for a reported $3 billion.
Now, Apple may be eyeing another company to buy. This time, it's one that makes a camera that you may have seen athletes mounting to their bikes or helmets, or your kids or grandchildren mounting to their drones.
Apple may be buying GoPro. The camera company, which is best known for its rugged devices, has been gaining popularity the past few years.
Unfortunately, though, its rugged cameras are also more or less interchangeable with any number of mounted cameras on the market. In fact, GoPro has been having a rough year on the stock market.
So, you can imagine that when its stock price recently starting inching up, it got investors wondering why. Often, upswings in stock prices are due to rumblings that so-and-so is about to buy that company.
You can imagine that if that so-and-so is Apple, one of the world's most successful companies, GoPro's stock price would indeed trend up. Or it could simply be because GoPro recently unveiled its first drone, Karma, which we told you about. Either way, something is going on with GoPro.
Just what is, neither Apple or GoPro is saying. As of this morning, neither company has responded to rumors that they'll merge. Keep reading Happening Now for updates on Apple and GoPro.
