The future of GoPro depends on Karma

The name "GoPro" has become synonymous with rugged portable cameras. If you see any outdoor or first-person video on the Internet, odds are it was shot using a GoPro. It's also the choice of camera for many high-end drones. See some examples of GoPro videos on our site.

Oddly, given its name recognition, GoPro isn't doing fantastic as a company. Selling to a saturated market, and competing with increasingly powerful smartphone cameras and low-cost competitors, its stock prices are tanking. Plus, popular drone manufacturer DJI is using its own video camera instead of GoPro. So, GoPro is taking a big gamble.

GoPro has decided to release its own drone in 2016 to compete with DJI's offerings. It's calling the drone "Karma." There's no word on when it will launch, what features it will have or how much it will cost.

However, there is a video, presumably taken with a prototype.
